Simon Jacob

Divisional Director South


Starting his Horticultural /Landscape career aged 18, Simon has over 28 years’ experience in the industry and is a qualified agronomist. Working initially within the sports turf industry before moving into landscape maintenance.

Simon joined Gavin Jones in 2006 as a Contracts Manager, covering the Essex and Kent areas before being promoted to Operations manager for the Ground Maintenance Division. In 2014, Simon was invited to join the board of Directors at Gavin Jones as Grounds Maintenance Director, and then moved to Nurture through acquisition.

He is now Divisional Director South for the Nurture Landscapes Group, responsible for all Grounds Maintenance Operations within the region.

He has gained a wealth of knowledge over the years from working on a variety of projects and is experienced in all disciplines within the landscape maintenance and people management sector.
Simon is passionate about people development and delivering exceptional service to clients at every level, with quality at the forefront of his everyday philosophy.

Dylan Lewis

Director South East


Dylan is responsible for the overall management of Business and Strategic Development within the Grounds Maintenance division in the South East.

Having joined Gavin Jones in 2000 and joining Nurture through the Acquisition of Gavin Jones in 2018, Dylan has worked his way up from Foreman to Director, working on a variety of sites where he has secured BALI, IOG and Green flag awards, gaining him valuable industry experience.

Starting his career as a foreman, he was soon promoted to Site Manager at Milton Park, Oxon, where he took on the responsibility for the grounds maintenance and handyman teams, winning two national BALI awards. In 2005, Dylan was promoted to Contracts Manager, managing sites in the Oxford and South West region of England and Wales, before becoming Area Manager in 2008, increasing his portfolio to cover the North and Midlands. At this time he also took the lead in starting up and managing the Aspire contract, covering the Aldershot, Tidworth, Bulford, Larkhill and Warminster Garrisons.

He is passionate about staff development, health & safety and in delivering consistent quality of service to our clients, ensuring Gavin Jones remains a market leader in our field.

Dylan studied Horticulture and has an HND & ISOH safety ROLE.

Phil Lucas

Regional Manager


Phil started his career at Gavin Jones as a foreman in 2002, and has worked his way up to become one of our Regional Managers. From working on a wide variety of sites, Phil has gained valuble industry knowledge and experience. He is responsible for a large number of our high profile contracts, and also oversees the company’s arboriculture department, which he played a pivotal part in setting up in back in 2006.

Due to his experience and expertise, he also looks after the majority of our sports turf related contracts for sectors including Private schools, MOD and a Premiership Rugby Club, as well as sites which have secured BALI, IOG and South East in Bloom awards.

He has studied arboriculture, horticulture and has an ISOH safety role.

Andy Mighall

Regional Manager


Andy has over 10 years experience in the horticultural industry, starting his career as an operative on a large soft landscaping project for the MOD, which won a Principal Bali Award.

Working his way up, Andy is now a Contracts Manager, responsible for two key clients as well as looking after several static sites and two mobile teams. His sites include University’s, MOD sites and residential.

Andy has a keen interest in health and safety innovations and managing his team with a positive approach.

Paul has over 20 years’ experience in the horticultural industry covering all aspects of commercial landscape services. He manages a number of varied contracts and his focus is on working with his clients to provide them with the highest standard of landscape maintenance while developing long-term professional relationships.

Andy Freeman

Contracts Manager


Andy has over 30 years experience within the horticultural industry, and has been an Area Manager since 2005 and looks after our Royal Parks and MOD contracts.

Starting his career in 1988, Andy has worked his way up from an operative to an Area Manager, working on many sites that have been awarded BALI and Green Flag Awards.

His experience includes being a head green keeper on a golf course, heading up a large schools, parks and verge maintenance contract as well as looking after cemeteries and a grave digging contract after being trained in (COTS) Institute of burial and cremation administration incorporated. Andy is well experienced in all aspects of horticulture and has developed many skills in the areas of communication, organisation, time management and employee management.

Scott has over 18 years’ experience within horticulture, starting his career as a operative before moving into foreman and supervisor roles and then into management.

He is now responsible for managing a range high end sites, both private and commercial, across the South East of England, including the multi award winning Bluewater Shopping Destination, with its large wildlife and habitats. Here he has secured Green Flag, BALI, South & South East in Bloom, Green Apple and Kent Wildlife Wild about Gardens Awards.

Scott has a flexible attitude to client requirements and thrives to deliver the best service available with new ideas to whatever challenges he faces.

Rob Aplin

Contracts Manager


Rob has worked within the horticultural industry for over 30 years, starting in the Tree Care sector as a climber, leading a team of four and carrying out local private tree works around the country. As his career progressed he started carrying out more grounds related tasks and ended up as Foreman of a five man team at Bulford Camp, delivering grounds related services for The Military. He then progressed to take over a large part of the West Wiltshire camps at Tidworth and Bulford, covering the military housing associated with these camps as well as running a 25 man team.

Through acquisition, Rob joined ISS Waterers in 2005 where he continued delivering the grounds maintenance services at Tidworth and Bulford until 2008, when Gavin Jones was awarded the Grounds and Trees on Project Allenby Contract for Salisbury Plain and Aldershot. At this point Rob was promoted to a Contracts Manager role and became responsible for looking after the Salisbury Plain area. A further five local contracts were additionally secured and are still being run in line with the Project Allenby Contract today, requiring up to a 50 man team at certain times of the year.

Due to the nature of our client and these sites, Health & Safety is of paramount importance, and it is Rob’s responsibility to ensure that whilst delivering excellent standards of Amenity Grounds Maintenance, the team working under him are following the Health and Safety requirements that are expected of them at all times.

He has been involved in securing a BALI award on The Project Allenby Contract as well as an IOG Industry award for the work carried out across the Sports Turf.

Tom Glancy

After graduating with an honours degree in Environmental Management Tom progressed through the landscape industry to contract management, working throughout a wide range of different sectors ranging from housing and utility to corporate and retail. He is responsible for a number of multi-site maintenance contracts, ensuring consistently high levels of service and quality are achieved. Tom enjoys life at Nurture, since working for a multi-award winning company with some of the industry’s most respected figures creates a very innovative atmosphere.

Tim Saggers

Contracts Manager


Tim has over 15 years’ experience within the grounds maintenance industry and has progressed through the ranks. Starting his career as a strimmer pilot at Woolwich Barracks, he worked his way up to becoming a team leader on the Bexley contract, before being promoted to his current position of Contracts Manager.
He has gained valuable on the tool experience, as well as Nemours horticulture qualifications through the years. His responsibilities include overseeing the day to day operations of Gillingham Business Park in Kent,which has remained within the Nurture group of companies for over 25 years.
Tim’s focus is on building strong relationships with clients, delivering excellent customer service, and the highest possible standards of landscape maintenance at all times.

Trevor Caplin

Trevor is responsible for static and mobile team contracts across the southeast of Englnd.
Having studied Horticulture at Writtle, Tevor has over 20 years’ experience within the industry, having worked in various sectors including, hard and soft landscaping, play equipment, safety surface installation, grounds maintenance and contract management, as well as being able to provide specialist horticultural advice on green wall systems.
He takes pride in his team delivering consistently high levels of service and quality across all their contracts.

Rob is responsible for the landscape maintenance of a wide range of educational establishments across the southern region. He brings a wealth of hands-on experience to support Nurtures’ teams in their desire to bring best practice to all our clients.

Steve Brice

Steve has over 20 years’ experience in the landscape maintenance industry.

Starting as a mobile team seasonal gardener in 1998, he soon progressed through the roles of landscape operative, team foreman and Assistant Contracts Manager to Contracts Manager by 2005.

Steve has managed contracts for several national contractors and as a result has managed a diverse range of clients and contracts, ranging from local authority, multi-site and corporate bodies, to exclusive country hotels and historic grounds as part of the prestigious English Heritage portfolio.

Steve’s focus is on delivering an excellent level of customer service, building strong client relationships and ensuring his teams deliver the highest level of landscape maintenance service possible.

Jon Hopson

Contracts Manager


Jon has worked for Nurture for 12 years.

Starting as an operative, he has worked his way up to his current position of Assistant Contracts Manager. He has experience in all aspects of horticultural work, from tree surgery to landscaping and general grounds maintenance.

Previous to his current position, Jon was a Contracts Supervisor on a large-scale maintenance contract covering four main military barracks across the Salisbury Plain. He has helped bring these sites up to an extremely high standard and they are now one of our flagship areas showcasing what we do on a large scale.
