Head Gardener – Imperial College, London

We are looking to immediately employ an experienced Head Gardener to manage the grounds and horticultural effects of the Imperial College and to achieve high standards of work at all times.

Job Purpose

This interesting and varied position involves the landscape management of Imperial College, a world top ten university with an international reputation for excellence in teaching and research.

You will be an experienced and knowledgeable ‘hands-on’ Head Gardener / Foreman who possesses excellent management and communication skills along with appropriate horticulture qualifications.

You must be able to demonstrate an interest in horticultural together with proven horticultural skills and experience – ideally from within a similar environment. You will be working ‘hands-on’ with your team to provide top class horticultural environments for our clients. You must have good horticultural knowledge along with the ability to implement H&S requirements to ensure safe working practices which will enable the smooth running of works on site.

We are looking for someone who can bring some or all the following skills:

We are looking for reliable, energetic and enthusiastic individuals with a determined, flexible and “can-do” attitude to complement our existing teams. You should have a good eye for detail and have excellent communication skills.

  • Experience of grounds maintenance
  • Ability to organise and motivate a small team of gardeners to produce top quality work at all times
  • Ability to plan and organise all tasks for their team
  • Although not essential possessing NPTC PA1 and PA6a spraying certificates will be a good advantage.
  • Experience of grounds maintenance machinery - including compact tractors and ride on mowers
  • Full driving licence
